Shavon’s Birthday. Number 13.. 13? Really?

Every other year the kids get a birthday party with friends. This year was family birthday. I actually love family birthdays more. They are quiet and meaningful.

We have some fun traditions for birthdays. The lucky birthday child does “not” have to do their regular jobs that day, and they get to choose their favorite restaurant to eat out at. And they get to pick out which ever birthday cake flavor too. When the presents are just about to be opened, the gifter gets to hide the gift and the birthday boy/girl gets to find it and open it. (Less chaos Smile). We usually do something fun on that person’s birthday as well. This year Shavon chose a little differently. She wanted mom and dad to make her favorite dinner. Cheesy mashed potatoes, pulled B-B-Q pork, and crispy green beans. And Funfetti cake. However, when we saw the side of the cake box, Shavon wanted to do funfetti cookies instead, using the cake mix. They were sooo good! Then, as a fun activity, Shavon chose pedicures. So mom, Shavon and Morgan all got them! Shavon’s lasted a whole 10 minutes, because Morgan accidently stepped on her while getting into the van. Sad smile They “were” cute yellow toes. The night before Nathan and I were in Target, looking for possibilities for Shavon’s presents. Nathan asked me what she wanted, and when I told him some ideas, he said, “ I guess we are out of the toy stage, what happened to my little girl?! She is growing so fast!” We both looked at each other and were a little sad at that fact. A teenager. What the heck? I am not old enough to have a teenager! Shavon’s response is classic when I say that…."Mom, you are half way to 70!” Thanks Shavon.

Dallin LOVES to make cookies. I almost have to put duct tape over his mouth to prevent him eating all

the cookie dough. So funny that Morgan and Dallin love to eat the cookie dough, but not the cooked product.

Make a wish lucky number 13!
